Last Wednesday, our colleagues and many of our clients woke up to election results we knew were a possibility but had fought against in large and small ways.
Many of us were sad, disappointed, angry, dejected, and numb. Some of us still are many of those things – maybe you are too.
It is hard to know what to say under these circumstances. When you fight for reproductive rights and freedom, marginalized people, wildlife conservation, public and wild lands, and you know what the incoming administration means for those issues and values, it is hard to find the right words to allay fear and frustration.
We can say with confidence that we will not stop fighting for the rights, people, animals, and places we care about and that benefit everyone regardless of who you voted for. We will find small moments to celebrate. We will plan for the day when we can have large ones again.
We will take care of ourselves and each other to make our presence known.
We will focus on the things we can control. We’ll find the good. We’re not going anywhere any time soon.
Are you with us? We hope so.
